Extreme Networks Support Contract

Hi,

 

Does anyone use Extreme Networks switches and who do you get your support contracts from?

I'm looking to renew a contract and wanted to compare prices.

I got some of those but no support contract. I think their switches are on a lifetime warranty anyway.

They do have a lifetime warranty but I don't think you get software updates etc.

 

Also the core equipment isn't covered in the same way and you can get nbd replacements which I'd need on our core equip.

 

I did try to set up Ridgeline but couldn't get it going and I've not had time to have another look.

I did trial another piece of software but it was too expensive.

I have previously looked on their site for something to DL but couldn't find anything, just their pricey network software.

 

My summits are old but none have crashed so they are reliable. One seems to be overloaded at the moment, going in via the web interface is slow so i need to remove some cables. Using up every port is not recommended!

I've got them throughout and they've been great. Auto VLANs based on computer account or Mac address. Sflow monitoring set but not currently running.

 

I do believe the newer firmwares are a lot better.

Haven't upgraded the software yet so i'll give that a go and see if the bottleneck issue gets resolved.

Have you tried a a third party maintenance company? I know Adept supply support but I think it is mainly PC/ server side. and there is also Netwerks who may be able to help.
