robjduk Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 Hello all, It is new teaching staff laptop time for me soon however I need to ensure they are well encrypted this time round. I want to use TPM however it seems to be few and far between in laptops at the moment so wonder who can recommend any encryption software. Bitlocker with a PIN is an option I know and am looking at packages that AV vendors supply but they are obviously in their thousands so looking for community votes. Suggestions are welcome, either paid or free. Thanks
Sam_Brown Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 Bitlocker here on 200+ laptops. No issues. Recovery key gets stored in AD and you can add bitlockering as part of your build process if you use MDT \ SCCM so it's all automated.
AdamzB Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 Never had an issue finding TMP equipped machines. Bitlocker is easily the simplest option if you are running Enterprise, complete with AD integration. We print out hard copies of the recovery keys and keep the securely sealed in the school safe to keep the Bursa happy.
detjo Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 Bitlocker here with key stored in AD. Don't need TPM Super easy to set up and just requires the password when turning on Bitlocker.
robjduk Posted September 30, 2014 Author Posted September 30, 2014 Seems Bitlocker wins the day then. Thanks all. Don't know what it is about me at the moment but I just fail at finding TPM laptops or only find a handful of ones which don't do other things I want.
