mwalpole Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 Dear Colleagues, We are at present experiencing a problem with youtube being blocked by the Smoothwall filtering we have in place. This seems to be affecting a large amount of schools, and is over riding any specific allow list entries they may have in place. Our engineers spent all day yesterday working with Smoothwall looking into the issue and as a result had made several changes which we thought would resolve this issue. Unfortunately it looks like this is not the case and schools are still being affected. This issue is being treated as our top priority problem and we are working closely with Smoothwall to get this working again as soon as possible. We will continue to update you on a daily basis, or when it is resolved. Kind Regards Marc Walpole 1
round2it Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 Hi Marc The youtube issue on the social caste seem to be resolved Thanks for the speedy fix. 1
mwalpole Posted September 24, 2014 Author Posted September 24, 2014 Hi Roundit, Thanks for letting me know. We have made some further changes and we are getting reports that it is now working from a lot of school sites. We do still have a few sites reporting issues though, so we are working on resolving those at the moment. Kind regards Marc
mwalpole Posted September 24, 2014 Author Posted September 24, 2014 We have been investigating this issue in conjunction with Smoothwall. At this junction it appears that a possible change on the YouTube platform in relation to Smoothwall has been causing these issues. Under consultation we have made some minor changes to platform from which the feedback so far has been positive. We are going to be monitoring this situation, but if anyone is still seeing issues with YouTube, please can you get in touch and send in a screenshot of the error you are getting please, as this is vital for our troubleshooting. Kind regards Marc
round2it Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 our connection has seemed quite fast today is this to do with the changes? 1
mwalpole Posted September 25, 2014 Author Posted September 25, 2014 Hi Round2it, We had a lot of schools reporting issues with internet speed last week, so we made some changes which seems to have had a positive effect. These changes are nothing to do with the youtube issue though, its something completely separate. Kind regards Marc 1
welshman Posted September 25, 2014 Posted September 25, 2014 Hi, we are currently having problems downloading YouTube clips with YTD software. Would that be related to the recent problems you mention above?
mwalpole Posted September 26, 2014 Author Posted September 26, 2014 Hi welshman, I wouldn't like to say yes or no without our support team looking at the issue. If you can send what information you have to [email protected] one of our team will look into this issue for you. if you can include screenshots and let us know what YTD software is, that would help us a lot. Kind regards Marc
