Netman-03 Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 Yes I know its old but the school I work at still use it. An issue has arisen where the students are spamming the teacher with chat messages or support request, does any one know how I can deploy a client profile (how to create on as well!) to all machines? I tried to send a profile from one of the machines but it just errors out saying "client not available, reverting back to older configuration" thanks
fiza Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 If its Ranger Remote Control you are talking about then it is Netsupport rebadged. I will look for some notes on this. Also you should bear in mind that it does look like RM have stopped developing this product so might be time to look at other options. 1
Netman-03 Posted September 23, 2014 Author Posted September 23, 2014 Yes Ranger Remote control, I've heard that as well! I have looked at the manual but I can't seem to see how to do what I want to do. I would be very grateful of any help! Thanks in regards with an upgrade, the powers that be have been notified, 2 years ago!
Tom_NetSupport Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 Have you gone into View>Current Settings>Student Toolbar? Here you can turn on/off specific features.
fiza Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 Have you gone into View>Current Settings>Student Toolbar? Here you can turn on/off specific features. I think that is where we switched off the chat option for students. Remove the toolbar and they don't get the chat option.
Netman-03 Posted September 24, 2014 Author Posted September 24, 2014 How do you remove the toolbar? They get to it by clicking on the little star in the tasktray
Tom_NetSupport Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 If you go to the location I listed, there is an option to remover the Toolbar.
Netman-03 Posted September 24, 2014 Author Posted September 24, 2014 Hi, I've disabled the toolbar but they still can chat by just clicking on the little yellow star, and choose chat. I can disable but it is a very long winded process, so I thought there must be an easier way!
Andrew_C Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 From memory, and I last looked at Ranger a few years ago; Set up one client as you like it (including disable chat) Save the configuration to somewhere sensible Use RRC Deploy programme to send the Config file to all clients.
Netman-03 Posted September 25, 2014 Author Posted September 25, 2014 (edited) I tried sending out a config file from one of the pc's but that didn't work, got an error "Client not available, reverting to original configuration". I tried sending out the file that is on my PC, like it says to but that didn't work either, same error message. Here is the log.
