Why are Big name 8GB Desktops so rare?

+1 You can buy an additional 4Gb RAM for around £35. If you go to somewhere like crucial they'll guarantee compatibility as well if you enter your system model/spec.

 

I second Crucial as well. Their online RAM compatibility tool is just awesome. The last thing you want to be worried about is spending $ for RAM that won't even be accepted by your Mac or Windows PC.
