ERK! Exchange 2007 drives were disconnected! IIS Broken help..

OK, my shiney new G3 P2000 san is garbage. It seems that whenever the 2nd controller is used it freezes and reports no errors! Anyhow (already replaced once)

 

Exchange has been damaged I ran chkdsk but some system files are damaged. Emails run but the IIS is broken the service can't run and owa and oab can't operate. I have a Friday backup but as it died Monday night I reluctant to roll back. File level restore of the Windows DIR?

 

I have one mail store on the c drive and one on a separate drive.

 

or is there a way of windows fixing it's missing / corrupt files?

update: alright found a thread my metabase file was missing, lucily a recent was in history so I copied and renamed it and the service is running nothing works but IIS is running

So what's happening with Exchange? Are all the services starting? Information store DBs mounted?

 

Have you seen this article on repairing IIS on an Exchange 2007 server, if its just IIS that has tanked?

If it's just the Exchange virtual directories that are damaged then this article might help.

Thanks yes, everything was working except IIS and everything that uses IIS was in error. Databases are mounted emails passing through. after the metabase file was restored I was able to start IIS and the default website now everything seems fine.

 

I hate my new SAN £13k turd.

More generally you should really look to migrate to Office 365 or Google email at some point.

 

Fixing IIS problems or Exchange databases should be a long way in the past. Sounds like a real nightmare.

it was, I agree.

 

O365 is all power shell so it's been slow going, even just enabling proplus for students was a giant pain. (the webgui is a lie, it does nothing useful)

Surely that can't be right... I think you might need to be obnoxious to your HP account manager and get something done about it. It's supposed to be more reliable than das, not less!

HP are sending me a new chassis and 2 new controllers. I'm going to do something I've only heard of, the total SAN changeover! or disk migration, whatever sounds cooler.

 

My MSA 2312i was (is) so solid as well.
