Dos_Box Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 Now the nights are drawing in - although we are having a pretty good batch of late summer weather - is anyone else feeling the urge to go to bed earlier? In the past couple of weeks I've been yawning my head off by 9:30 and ready for bed by 10 Usually I'm up reading until 11. I feel cheated out of 'awake time'.
featured_spectre Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 Oddly I feel more refreshed when waking up. Mind you, I get up at 4:30am 5 days a week so I can go to the gym, so I go to bed between 9pm-10pm anyway.
elsiegee40 Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 My tortoise is definitely getting the urge to hibernate I don't want him to yet... it's too early! I'm doing OK at the moment. I'm tired, but that's because I am run off my feet!
edutech4schools Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 I feel the need for sleep from about now onward, and really feel bad after the clock change
ICTLady Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 I am reading a great wintry thriller set in British Colombia in January. It's the perfect book to cosy up on a cold night so I find that I am reading it in bed, picturing it being winter outside even though it's still mild enough to sleep with the summer duvet and the window open. Very cloudy and quite cold here today, first day it's really felt like summer is over I don't need much encouragement to go to sleep earlier, I am up at 6 for school runs etc before work and I need my 8 hours, so I'm normally in bed nice and early.
rickjames Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 Not really, although I've stopped the whole nap after getting home from kinda thing I used to do. PROGRESS.
Andrew_C Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 I'm wiped out, as is Mrs C. So early nights, and really bleary mornings in our house.
FishCustard Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 I'm one of those freaky people who gets by just fine on 4-5 hours of sleep a night, but I'm certainly starting to feel tired earlier. If you want to get more functionally-awake time, make sure you're drinking enough water - even slight dehydration can have a surprising effect on alertness. It's also generally best to eat small amounts of food regularly rather than two or three larger meals, as the more food you eat in one go, the sleepier you'll feel afterwards. Obviously this may not be possible for practical or medical reasons, but if you can do it, give it a go.
abillybob Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 Since the girlfriend broke up with me that all I have been doing, at the moment I just want to find a dark hole somewhere, bury my head inside and never come out! But life is life so instead I'm at work!
witch Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 Best to keep going, @abillybob . Hope you have someone close you can talk to
TheScarfedOne Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 Sorry to hear that @abillybob, chin up; and hope that there is something you can use to occupy your mind
