Bankesy Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 Hello Having taken over this network I have managed to establish where the existing group policies are and how they are applied. However for example in Room X I can see a group policy for the printer in that room and it works for the PC's in that OU but when I apply that policy to another room it doesn't work, nothing happens. What could the possible cause of this be given that the policy clearly does work? Any advice or help will be appreciated, thank you
machin05 Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 First step would be to run RSOP.msc and look for any yellow exlamation marks indicating an error applying any of the policies. - - - Updated - - - Oh and gpupdate /force is what you need to run to make a PC gets all its GPOs applied.
fairm010 Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 Under Scope under the GPO's settings is the computer name in Security Filtering?
atechguy Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 If its a prefs printer policy maybe check the item level targeting too.
Bankesy Posted September 10, 2014 Author Posted September 10, 2014 Hello No under Scope all I have is Authenticated Users. Yes it is set by preferences, do I perhaps need to change the action from Update to Create?
fairm010 Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 That means the GPO is open to any authenticated user / computer on the domain which is default. Yes change to create, that might do the trick!
Bankesy Posted September 10, 2014 Author Posted September 10, 2014 Hello When I look inside the policy I can see no item level targetting has been applied. Changing the action to create didn't help either.
