[ipad] What's the difference... app and book?

A teacher has asked me about getting a graphic novel onto the ipads.

 

There is an app which costs 69p https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/beowulf-the-graphic-novel/id382799896?mt=8

 

Then there is the book which you can buy through the ibooks app (Beowulf: The Graphic Novel). This costs £1.99.

 

What gives? It's the same thing... isn't it?

Graphic novel? Is that suitable for schools?

 

As to the difference I don't know really. It might be the app was made before iBooks came along and they never got rid of it.

Perhaps, I've noticed that the app is for iphone, so might be a poorer resolution. I'm gonna be buying me an itunes voucher methinks and try them both.
