I've had my Nexus 7 since Christmas and have been pretty much impressed with it. However, my wife tends to use it more than me which means I don't use it every day. BUT I have noticed that whenever I went onto it it seemed a little sluggish compared to when I first unboxed it - OK I was expecting that and when I look at what apps she has open the list goes off the page so I never thought too much about it. Last week however, I left it on charge and a couple of hours later the battery had barley moved. I've checked the battery when it is in use and it seems it doesn't drain any quicker. But I've only just remembered that when it was plugged in a couple of weeks ago it didn't charge at all. I've run the updates but I hadn't applied any updates when the problem occured and to me it seems more likely to be hardware than software? I've yet to try and do a factory reset but that seems to be a drastic solution which I don't think will solve the problem.

I've read somewhere that it could be an issue with the USB connector and I'm trying to dig out my receipt so I can take it back to the shop but wanted to check I have done everything I could and if anyone else experienced any dramatic performance issues with their nexus after 9 months?

How long should a full charge take? I need to do some proper testing this weekend as I never get chance to try anything in the week and then my wife is using it!

How are you charging it? The original Nexus chargers are able to deliver more current than a standard USB port and some USB wall wart things are barely capable of 500mA without dropping the voltage. If you have a load of apps using the processor and phoning home, you might just be providing barely enough juice to do that.

I did put the Nexus into flight mode to see if that made a difference to the charging but it didn't. I just don't remember it taking so long to charge, but if I'm honest I probably wasn't watching so closely. Once I know I've got all the files I put on there on the computer I'll do a factory reset and see if it helps.

Cheers
