Hi all,

What would you recommend as the best free cloud storage for personal use? Ideally should have an app for mobile use too!

Any advice would be great!

To be honest, they're all much of a muchness. I'm using iCloud because I have apple devices. If you're heavily invested in Microsoft technologies, OneDrive may be a good bet. Google Drive isn't bad either, Dropbox is good too.

All have iOS apps, don't know about Android (Apart from iCloud and Google Drive that is :))

I have used Skydrive for five years and never had any issues. Am waiting to see what this new icloud is going to look like. Its meant to be changing into a proper cloud service where you can put anything you want on there instead of this 30 days crap. but It is apparently quite expensive.

If you have any Android devices, then Google Drive is a no brainer since all of Google's web-based and mobile apps integrate with it.

When Google and Amazon lowered their cloud storage prices back in March, Dropbox took an additional five months before they did the same. IME, the upload speeds are quite slow too. :(

Now SkyDrive/OneDrive have removed the upload limit on files, definitely Microsoft

The following is a bit worrying though...

I do remember seeing in there T&C's they had odd rules about things like that. The german photographer's photos were pretty tame to be fair!

Late to the party, but I recommend Copy.com

Apps for desktop, iOS, android, windows phone etc. Start off with 15Gb free plus get an extra 5Gb for each referral (my link if you want https://copy.com?r=wy017L). You need to install the client on something to get the 5Gb extra!

No file size limits that I've come across plus you can view/stream video files through their web page version (in case you don't want to install the client). Plus selective folder sync capabilities - so you can exclude a sub-folder from syncing with one device i.e. laptop, but sync all the time on your desktop
