Tesla Posted September 9, 2014 Author Posted September 9, 2014 can't quite squeeze that into my budget....
bmdixon Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 can't quite squeeze that into my budget.... Yeah, they are rather a lot... just checked ebay and most are still £300-500 second hand, although there are a few for less than £200. As for 'real' suggestions I can't really help, sorry!
john Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 Just to make everyone jealous... We have Herman Miller Aerons here (I'm a developer for a software company). They're not cheap but they apparently hold their value well so can be sold on for quite a lot as well. It's very comfy and i hate sitting on any other office chair now! *glares at your chair* We would love them as one of our colleagues has one he bought himself and he loves it, the ones we have will do as a cheaper (well guess they were cheaper) similar sort of thing.
Tesla Posted September 9, 2014 Author Posted September 9, 2014 Going staples tonight anyway to see what suits me, no idea if i'll like the mesh chairs or not
nyiss Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 (edited) Feeling a tiny bit envious of some of your chairs right now! I get the joy of sitting on one of these until my rooms sorted. Not ideal at the best of times but now that my back feels about as structural as a twiglet after a bike accident in the holidays, it's fair to say it is somewhat unpleasant. Tesla Posted September 9, 2014 Author Posted September 9, 2014 Damn, that sucks, i at least currently have a bog standard cheap office chair... hope your back isn't too serious after your accident. 1
Tesla Posted September 9, 2014 Author Posted September 9, 2014 This chair was very comfotable.... Gotham Bonded Leather Faced Executive Chair, Black | Staples.co.uk
TomHD Posted September 21, 2014 Posted September 21, 2014 (edited) I ignored the Herman Millers (They're more popular for their design and iconic status rather than their ergonomics... I've even heard some people say that they aren't all that comfy over long periods.) and went for a second hand RH Logic 400 from eBay for £200 delivered. It had a few cosmetic marks here and there but has been a game changer. Just to give you some back story... At university I had a bike accident which messed my right hip and knee up! At the time I was writing my dissertation so spending 6-8 hours a day in an antique leather chair, looked great but upon reflection incredibly uncomfortable and was detrimental to my recovery. After getting private medical care my doctor suggested that I get a better chair. I found Logic and saw that they offered a 5 day trial and had one sent. I ordered the one from eBay about an hour or so after receiving the trial chair. My recovery from then on was great, so much so I have done numerous cycle tours of Europe since. Considering your back problems you should be looking for serious orthopaedic/ergonomic chairs that are designed for extended use. They're going to be very pricey in comparison to a chair from Staples etc but your health is priceless. Edited September 21, 2014 by TomHD
