Koldov Posted September 5, 2014 Posted September 5, 2014 Hi All, Have a strange situation with an FMS installation and can't figure it out... Windows 7 Professional 32bit OS, have installed to 4 other identical PC's fine. Think on start-up the wrong FMSConnect.ini was chosen by user, but have done all I can think of to remedy. Sims loads fine. Changed default printer Copied a working FMSConnect.ini Deleted C:\Program Files\SIMS\Finance folder and reinstalled from FMSApplicationsetup Copied the whole Finance folder from a working computer When I log on as Administrator or any other user it loads up fine, but logged on as this user I get the above message! I have done a lot of work setting up this PC for this particular user as she is the Bursar and VERY picky about what she needs, also she is very busy and needs FMS urgently!!!! Any ideas? Kol.
BKGarry Posted September 5, 2014 Posted September 5, 2014 Try reinstalling the SQL native client, sometimes that works
Koldov Posted September 5, 2014 Author Posted September 5, 2014 Ok, but before I kick her off her computer again (as she's already got the hump with me), wouldn't that stop SIMS working? Also, wouldn't that stop it working for any other user that logged on?
BKGarry Posted September 5, 2014 Posted September 5, 2014 Nope. It's really weird. I have had it where it only affects FMS and not SIMS or other users. It is worth a shot.
Koldov Posted September 5, 2014 Author Posted September 5, 2014 Thanks but no good! Used the sqlncli_x86.msi that I've used on all the others, to repair, then uninstalled and reinstalled but no difference.
Koldov Posted September 5, 2014 Author Posted September 5, 2014 Absolutely hate this software... I've installed it a few times now and no two have gone the same. Very rarely does it go right and it just gets confusing, because I can never remember one 'perfect' way to do it!
BKGarry Posted September 5, 2014 Posted September 5, 2014 Just seen this, you can double check the FMSconnect remotely Locate the FMSConnect.ini, which can normally be found in C:\ProgramFiles\SIMS\FMSSQL Remove the Redirect= entry, and save This will enable you to log into FMS correctly
Achandler Posted September 5, 2014 Posted September 5, 2014 I have a trick i like to use which si copy the finance folder from a working computer onto a broken one, usually it fixes it
matt40k Posted September 5, 2014 Posted September 5, 2014 You've got a redirect line in your fmsconnect.ini that you need to remove. You normally find you have the local one with a redirect to a shared fmsconnect.ini which then redirects to self which then creates a infinite loop. 1
speckytecky Posted September 6, 2014 Posted September 6, 2014 Had the same problem. As @matt40k says it's a local copy of the fmsconnect.ini that's causing the problem. You need to find it in the Users / username / files (it will be hidden) delete it then the next time that particular AFMS authorised user logs on the correct file will be replicated into it's place. Job done. 1
Koldov Posted September 8, 2014 Author Posted September 8, 2014 (edited) OK, I'm going to delete this one... C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\SIMS\Finance Hope it's the right one! Edit: Yup that's the little blighter! Got to the log in screen now, so we'll see if it's all OK tomorrow when the user is back in school... Kol. Edited September 8, 2014 by Koldov
