Problem loosing Active Desktop wallpaper

I have assigned a wallpaper through GPO, i have checked all the permissions on the folder where the jpg resides and all is OK.

 

The problem i have is when the users log on it shows the picture for while it applies settings but then the picture disappears. I just get a tiny square looking icon in corner of the screen.

 

I have tried all sorts to no avail.....anyone have a clue here?

I've seen no end of posts regarding this problem .jpgs just don't seem to work very well from network shares, some people find that putting the image on the C: drive solves the problem i've found that using a .bmp is more reliable but the file can be a bit large.

Non eof theother networks i visit in other schools have this problem and they alll use netwotrk shares and jpgs?

Odd i've seen it on several networks. Using a .jpg requires active desktop to be enabled is this set in GP?

It can be set in GPO; also IE7 caused me issues with my Wallpapers.

I had a similar problem, found the answer to be to make the picture the same resolution as the minitors. i.e. if you are using an 800x600 picture on a 1024x768 monitor resolution, rescale the picture to 1024x768.

Interesting...........I have just installed IE7 on the computers in question.

Yeah IE7 was my issue, didn't have time to find a workaround so just resorted back to IE6.

We have problems showing our HTML backdrop to Staff members they have Domain User Permissions on normal desktops but Admin permissions on their laptops this seems to mess the Active Desktop up if anyone knows a way round this I'd like to know!

I have found you also need to refresh the desktop after 30 seconds or so else it does not display poper.

I'm running IE7 here and it works ok.
