Can someone answer me a AMD CPU question please? When virtualising on a desktop with an AMD processor, how many logical processors would you end up with? I understand with Intel's Hyper threading you get each physical core split into two but cant find a straight answer for AMD.

If I had a bulldozer for example with 8 logical cores, would I get 16 available to me or just 8? The AMD website talks a good talk but just cant get my head around this.

Hope some of this makes sense to someone.

Thanks

Hyper threading gives two 'virtual' cores per physical core. Bulldozer/Piledriver etc effectively has 1:1 logical/physical. No equivalent to HT, but the modular core design in these CPUs mean a greater physical count than equivalent Intel products, (sadly with lower IPC). Edited by 3s-gtech
