Marshall_IT Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 When doing remakes imo it has to add something new. The liberator was so typical of 1970s SciFi it would look just plain wrong nowadays. Designs now take a bit more realism into account, like actually allowing enough slave inside for the occupants. This doesn't however mean you can't or shouldn't find a good compromise. I loved the original BSG and the remake is still my favourite ever TV show SciFi or not! In my mind it was the prefect balance between adding a new update and being respectful to the original.
6Foot2 Posted August 23, 2014 Author Posted August 23, 2014 Accepted. But how different will it be? What will Zen be like? [will it have Zen?] Will there be teleport? Will the ship have auto repair? Will it be built on a vast scale? I know that this is just about the ship and there will be other aspects/facets to the reboot, if it takes off, but the design of the ship is what took my eye in this article.
6Foot2 Posted August 23, 2014 Author Posted August 23, 2014 More importantly who could play Avon now? What about the rest of the crew? The original crew [as it will be a reboot] Character: Actor Roj Blake: Gareth Thomas Kerr Avon: Paul Darrow Vila Restal: Michael Keating Jenna Stannis: Sally Knyvette Cally: Jan Chappell Olag Gan: David Jackson
fiendishlyclever Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 More importantly who could play Avon now? For those of is who use Big Finish, the original cast are still Blakes 7 as they release new audio plays (same for Dr Who etc). I've seen so many reboots, just finished the latest Tomorrow People (shows your age if you remember the original) and it isn't a patch on the original, same for lots of scifi
SYNACK Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 just finished the latest Tomorrow People (shows your age if you remember the original) and it isn't a patch on the original, same for lots of scifi There was an original!? Now I need to track that down
6Foot2 Posted August 25, 2014 Author Posted August 25, 2014 There was an original!? Now I need to track that down Link: The Tomorrow People (TV Series 1973 - 1979) - IMDb Titles and closing credits:
Andrew_C Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 Will the new one shake and wobble as they shut the doors?
ICTDirect_Dave Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 I don't like this concept at all. The whole point of the Liberator was that it was vastly more advanced and considerably more powerful than any single ship humanity had created. This looks like it's been made of junk! Even drifting derelict for years the Liberator would have repaired itself to perfect working order in anticipation of it's creators coming along to pick it up.
