Smartboard install

Hi,

 

I've installed loads of these at school and even one on a trolley (made of gold for what I paid for it) but have a couple to put up in rooms with wainscoting which I can't remove. I did find some brackets to protrude the board but they are all American sites. Has anyone done something like this before.

 

If I protrude the bracket its going to flex the board too much so maybe some chipboard behind it to step it out ???

 

Brackets would be a lot easier though.

I normally just use thick sheets of mdf cut to size (make them fairly big compared to the bracket, there is plenty of room behind a board) and then fix to this.

 

If its for hanging a heavy item, such as a tv I'll use mdf but make sure I use longer coach bolts and drive the plugs right into the wall, so the bracket is still fixed to the wall, but spaced with the mdf.

Our engineers generally use MDF to batten off the wall in cases like this, just as Steve said.

Spent this morning doing a room. I do enjoy getting my hands dirty.

 

Really happy with it, 2 sheets of MDF 1800 x600 (cut to 1600 by B&Q) and some deep battons. The MDF went over the dado nicely and looks very smart. The SB covers the MDF so you can only see it from the side.

 

1 more to do tomorrow, problem is the projector has no keystone so I either have to lower the mount or put the board higher up
