HELP! Folder permissions

Hi,

 

This one has me scratching my head - what am I doing wrong?

 

Hard Drive on server, W:, shared as Techfiles$

Share permissions = Everyone, Full Access

 

Drive Security = System, Full Access; Creator Owner, Full Access; HHA Network, Full Access.

 

I am a member of the HHA Network AD Security group.

Effective Permissions on my user account show full control.

 

When I try accessing the drive I get Access Denied!

 

Why?

Update:

 

A bit of testing, accessing remotely appears to be fine, group permissions not working locally. So when working on server group permissions not being resolved, seem to require individual user accounts listed in ACL instead of security groups.

 

This means the problem would only effect network administrators. I'd sooner update group memberships every time we change tech than have to alter folder ACL's on the file server each time.

 

Anyone have any ideas?

Tried adding my user account to the local Administrators groups, didn't work!

 

Have added full control for the INTERACTIVE group, idea being only net admins would log on to server locally so no harm done. Still this can't be the right solution?

Uac turned on? Server 2012? If so, the fix I found was make a custom security group and add your account to it.

Server 2008 R2. And just double-checked the local security policy and UAC is disabled.

 

I'm going with INTERACTIVE as the quick&dirty fix. Remote security is more important than local, and remote security is working. I can live with this set up, just counterintuitive. What's the point of creating security groups in AD if you can't make best use of them?

Had this once, was a UAC problem.

 

Turned on UAC, rebooted

Then turned off UAC, rebooted

 

Resolved the issue for me
