I think my directors response went something like, "They want how much?", and then "Per year????".

 

So is CS6.5 still available in a student edition in licencing or box form? Obviously still hopefully at the discounted prices

I just bought the site licence for CS6 around a month or so ago so it should still be available.

Exactly, CC is *not* good value for money for *any* educational establishment no matter how much you try and dress it up in industry standards etc. Adobe are utterly moronic for pulling that off! But yes, as above, plenty of places are still doing perpetual site licenses for CS6. Phoenix will be worth a shout.

Likewise; we've just purchased a CS6 site license and that will do use for a few more years. We've had CS4 prior and it's done us proud and to be honest we could have ran with it for a few more years quite happily. The CC subscription is just barking for schools. I challenge Adobe to do the same as Autodesk, or even to the level of Microsoft.... give it free to schools, get the kids hooked on their applications at an early age so they are ready to demand and use it in the work place.

The new Adobe EEA 1.5 isn't too bad now as long as you read the agreement fully and understand their definition of part time and their price break points.

Over here in the US one of our major vendors has negotiated a giant volume purchase agreement with Adobe for their customers.

This is based on FTE like Microsoft, for this pricing I can cover the whole school for three years, for the same price it would cost me to cover one lab with a perpetual license for CS6

In our case the CC is better value.

Perhaps one of your vendors can negotiate a deal with adobe on behalf of all the schools interested in Adobe CC.

@ADMaster - 3 years / perpetual is not the same. You're not tied into it as much as the MS EES but even with those price breaks it's poor value. We're still rocking CS5 and no intention of upgrading.
