Garacesh Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 So yeh, FF-VIII is remotely downloading via steam for when I get home...... Good man [FightPrompt] I always found FFVIII better than FFVII, I could play VIII for days and days, I've completed it umpteen times.. It's fantastic! But I just couldn't get into VII.. It just did not grip me at all [/FightPrompt]
CHR1S Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 Played them all on my PS1 back in the day. I chose VIII over VII too
Latham Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 I love FFVIII - I love the story and the characters. I have to replay every few years else I'll explode.
DMcGuigan Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 FFIX was always my go to, I played VII more than VIII, but I've got them all on my Vita, so I'm gradually working my way through them from the start. Just started II.
sonofsanta Posted October 24, 2014 Posted October 24, 2014 Time for another necro. Yes, I will do this every time I play a game with a story I liked. Just finished Spec Ops: The Line and, well... I'm not sure I'd say I enjoyed it, but I don't think the game wanted me to. The game itself is solid and engaging, but I've never had a game make me feel so guilty and rotten for actions I've taken. It's the story CoD wishes it had, and achieves what MW2 tried and failed to do with No Russian. It quite blatantly takes its inspiration from Heart of Darkness, but doesn't just retread Apocalypse Now; it goes in its own direction. First game in a long time that's had me playing till midnight because the story was pulling me along. It only takes about 6 hours, so it fits in well around Grown Up Life. Well worth a punt when it pops up cheap in the Steam Christmas sale.
Garacesh Posted October 24, 2014 Posted October 24, 2014 I've never had a game make me feel so guilty and rotten for actions I've taken. Last game to make me do that was the Geth decision in Mass Effect.. That had me sit there for about 5 minutes seriously pondering what each option meant..

Joanne Posted October 24, 2014 Posted October 24, 2014 I love all the old Final Fantasies.... 6 had a good storyline. I enjoyed 9 too. I liked the materia system in 7 and 8 was amazing to play back in the day with teh graphics. I'm not keen on the girly dancing ones that come out now. It's too easy to battle in my opinion. I prefer the battle systems of 6, 7, 8 and 9. Oh and ten I guess...

Tesla Posted October 24, 2014 Posted October 24, 2014 not played any games for a while, just seem to be out of all interest of them lately... :|
sonofsanta Posted October 24, 2014 Posted October 24, 2014 I got this on the last Big Humble Bundle. Will have to install it That's where I got it too was a cracking deal that one. Last game to make me do that was the Geth decision in Mass Effect.. That had me sit there for about 5 minutes seriously pondering what each option meant.. The ME choice that made me stop to think, and had me pondering reloads to choose the other way, was Mordin's loyalty quest in ME2, and what do do about the Krogan genophage. No good choice there, I don't think. That ME3 choice you mention: it's a good job I'm a completionist wrt missions in games, as it meant I had enough war readiness & prior good decisions to let me take the "everyone is friends now" option. I watched some of the other outcomes on YouTube, though, and watching Tali throw herself off that cliff was traumatic, even when it didn't really happen
ICTDirect_Dave Posted October 24, 2014 Posted October 24, 2014 The materia system sucked, though xP It never did! The combos you could create were brilliant.
Garacesh Posted October 24, 2014 Posted October 24, 2014 Nope. Materia was horrible. Such a stupid way of doing things. Junction system was great, except the fact that you had to sit there drawing magic for ages which got a little tedious. Sphere grid in X could have been amazing, but unfortunately seemed to fall short of what it felt like it was trying to do. @sonofsanta - No questions about Mordin's fate. I'd never, ever, bring any harm to him.
LiamH Posted October 27, 2014 Posted October 27, 2014 Mass effect, KOTOR, Dragon Age, Bioshock, Fallout are all great Couple of unmentioned, Call Of Duty 2/4 had great story lines IMO, the part in CoD4 where you are crawling away from the chopper after the nuke.. Bastion, just replaying this and its not so much the story but the way it is told with the narrator. Vampire the masquerade was another good one.
thepridster Posted October 27, 2014 Posted October 27, 2014 im a big fan of legacy of khaine series most of the bioware stuff such as jade empire mass effect one of the big ones for me I haven't seen here that had a massive wow factor when I was much younger was the homeworld series. especially the ending!
