Tesla Posted July 15, 2014 Posted July 15, 2014 hi all, as title suggest, the SimsCentralServerSetup upgrade runs every time on a new pc we have put sims onto, it only runs for a few seconds (after clicking past the security prompt) before displaying the login screen., anyone know a fix for this? (we've had support on installation the past two days, this is only something very trivial, and more of an annoyance than an issue....) win 7 pc x64 server2008r2 sql2005/2008 installed and running for Sims/FMS
Mark_Atkins1 Posted July 15, 2014 Posted July 15, 2014 Hi Tesla, This could be down to permissions on the folder specified in the SIMSDirectory line of the workstation's SIMS.ini. We had this a while ago with one of our schools where the users did not have permission to this shared area. Hope this helps, Mark
Cache Posted July 15, 2014 Posted July 15, 2014 We used to have the CentralServer setup run if the S drive wasn't mapped for the user also.
Tesla Posted July 16, 2014 Author Posted July 16, 2014 We've never had an S Drive, it's all on our K drive (sims setups etc).... so do you think that that central server app is trying to connect to the S drive???
Tesla Posted July 16, 2014 Author Posted July 16, 2014 weird, ran SimsINST again, it tried to install some 16-bit workstation, and froze, so i cancelled it, and when i ran SIMS it ran without the server prompt, so it seems fixed... bizarre
