Lenovo G580 Issue

Hi, we have a number of lenovo g580 laptops in school. One of them is displaying a rather odd behavior. Firstly the laptop wont post. All the lights come on but there is nobody at home. If i remove the battery and the bios battery and then put them back in after 10 seconds the laptop goes in to a weird boot cycle. The laptop turns on and instantly off, repeats 10 or so times then boots normally. As soon as the laptop is rebooted or shutdown it wont post again.

 

Last week it turned on so we put it in a spare classroom setup as a teacher would use it and left it overnight. Came in the next day and the laptop was working 100% until rebooted.

 

 

Does anyone have and ideas where to start with troubleshooting. Ive replaced ram, hard disk and tried booting without a battery.

 

PS 2 months out of warranty

Sounds like the main board starting to go.

 

You starting up the laptop on battery or mains?

same on mains & battery. Tried a bios update now nothing.
