KoolTech Posted July 7, 2014 Posted July 7, 2014 Not sure if this is the right place or not but any help would be hugely appreciated! We have 2 Sharp photocopiers in school. one ip is 10.176.111.5 and the other is 10.176.111.5 One of the photocopiers has decided to stop working. If I ping it I get something like this Request timed out. Request timed out. Request timed out. Request timed out. Request timed out. Request timed out. Reply from 10.176.111.5: bytes=32 time=2433ms TTL=255 Reply from 10.176.111.5: bytes=32 time=2433ms TTL=255 Request timed out. Reply from 10.176.111.5: bytes=32 time=2431ms TTL=255 Request timed out. The other one is working fine, any suggestions!??
KoolTech Posted July 7, 2014 Author Posted July 7, 2014 Doh!!! no sorry one should have been .5 and one .6!! Mistype, sorry.
psydii Posted July 7, 2014 Posted July 7, 2014 Confirm their IPs in the management screen of the device. Set up continuous pings to both. Shut them both down and leave them off for 2 minutes. Relace patch leads and fly leads with known good cables. Turn them back on waiting 5 minutes between them. If the problem persists, move them to a different wall socket and switch port. Confirm that you can reliably ping other devices on the suspect switch and wall ports. 1
KoolTech Posted July 7, 2014 Author Posted July 7, 2014 Cheers @psydii tried that mate, I have had continuous ping's running all day to watch it! IP info is correct, changed leads and points but still no change! If I set the IP to the one that I know is good and working it still doesn't work. I am now thinking its the network card on the machine itself
KoolTech Posted July 7, 2014 Author Posted July 7, 2014 it is, however support costs extra to get them in and SLT kick up a bit of a fuss about it so was hoping it was fixable but I've been on all day with it and I'm starting to think I'm going to have to put a call in!
TechMonkey Posted July 7, 2014 Posted July 7, 2014 Stick a known good device (laptop maybe) on the cable instead of the photocopier. If ping is still flakey it is an infrastructure problem, if all fine now it is a machine issue and claim under warranty so no cost 1
KoolTech Posted July 7, 2014 Author Posted July 7, 2014 Tried my laptop on the cable and it worked fine. I really think it is the network card now. Hope I can claim under warranty, need to dig the paperwork/contract out!
fredbayker Posted July 7, 2014 Posted July 7, 2014 You could use a crossover between your laptop and the copier and try pinging. It's seems like it's the card anyway but just another method of diagnosing. Thought I'd mention it.
KoolTech Posted July 8, 2014 Author Posted July 8, 2014 Photocopier "engineer" has been and after acting all arrogant saying it was my network and me disproving him and getting an apology, hes off to get a new network card nice win for today! 1
