Migrate SCCM 2007 -> SCCM 2012?

So I had a quick google about this but thought I would see if anyone had done this?

 

Is it worth it or better just to start again?

The migration from 2007 to 2012 isn't an in-place path, it's a swing migration so whatever you choose to do, you'll have to set up a new ConfigMgr site and if you want the two running side by side, a new site code.

 

Running the migration saves a little time in that it'll import your packages, OS images and task sequences but you'll probably want to convert your packages to applications anyway.

Depends on your environment - is it stable, how many packages, etc, etc

 

I personally would start again, but 2012 does allows you to easily migrate the old environment into the new one (Adminstration\Migration in 2012 Console

FWIW I did take the migration route when I went from 2007 to 2012. It was a bit of a timesaver because it imported all of my driver packages, task sequences and packages but I did spend a lot of time converting my packages to Applications because they're a lot better.

 

Once I did that, I had to spend more time with my task sequences for them to deploy applications instead of packages. If I were to do it again, I'm not so sure I'd bother with the migration.
