Urgent! Manually create users home areas with all the my pictures etc

Hi,

We need to create all the students with new home area on a new server.

We want to create the joe blogs folder complete with my pictures etc and then apply the permissions to them.

 

We cannot login as the students as that would of solved the issue with new policies with redirection.

 

It doesn't seem to be a case of just creating a folder called my pictures. I think there is more to these folders.

 

Once we have the folders set as we want we will then copy from old location to new location manually.

 

This is a tidy up operation.

 

This is quite urgent if anyone can help.

Create a test user. What happens when you copy the my pictures folder? Can they access it ok when they log on? Does it get re-directed properly? I would have thought that is all you need to do... especially if permissions are set onto child folders too.

I have tried copying the pictures and videos as a test from else where and when they login the folders appear white.

I think these folders are tied into reg. Not just a simple folder.

Strange. I recreated a load of staff accounts a couple of months ago and copied everything across and all pictures / downloads / videos worked fine. If they appear white, or sort of see through, that normally means they are offline...

 

Have you disabled offline files?

Did you copy the content and not the actual folders - they won't copy properly
