Did some more testing today. The user with the smaller number of AD group membership logs in quicker then those with large number of AD group membership. Our staff accounts do have quite a lot of email groups attach because of the way we use salamander for class and tutor groups etc...

It's the number of recursions when looking up a user's group memberships. i.e. if a group is a member of a group which is a member of a group which is a member of a group which is a member of a group. It'll recurs through 10 iterations until it stops

Ok thanks for the info

 

Our staff are just members of single groups of there own not groups within group.

 

So let's say a teacher teachers a 150 kids during the week. They would be a member of single group for each student as part of the teachers who teach email groups we have setup.

Well no wonder HAP is slow to log on, it has to parse all of those groups, try 0 or 1 as the setting, 0 should turn it off so it only looks at the top level
