ful56_uk Posted September 3, 2014 Author Posted September 3, 2014 Did some more testing today. The user with the smaller number of AD group membership logs in quicker then those with large number of AD group membership. Our staff accounts do have quite a lot of email groups attach because of the way we use salamander for class and tutor groups etc...
fairm010 Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 I don't know if this will help you but our staff are members of two security groups and log ins to HAP take 1-2 seconds.
ful56_uk Posted September 3, 2014 Author Posted September 3, 2014 That's what I've found. Staff with lots of ad groups takes ages. Staff with a few, seconds to login
nickbro Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 Try changing the max recursions from 10 down to 1, and see. That setting is the hapConfig.xml file in the AD element
ful56_uk Posted September 4, 2014 Author Posted September 4, 2014 ok Nick thanks ill give that a try, can i ask what that setting does
nickbro Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 It's the number of recursions when looking up a user's group memberships. i.e. if a group is a member of a group which is a member of a group which is a member of a group which is a member of a group. It'll recurs through 10 iterations until it stops
ful56_uk Posted September 4, 2014 Author Posted September 4, 2014 Ok thanks for the info Our staff are just members of single groups of there own not groups within group. So let's say a teacher teachers a 150 kids during the week. They would be a member of single group for each student as part of the teachers who teach email groups we have setup.
nickbro Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 Well no wonder HAP is slow to log on, it has to parse all of those groups, try 0 or 1 as the setting, 0 should turn it off so it only looks at the top level
