USB Issues on Windows 8.1

Hi,

 

I have a Fujitsu Lifebook A544, running Windows 8.1 Pro, when ever I connect a USB device (storage or mouse it does not pick anything up). I have checked device manager and it has yellow exclamation mark on USB xHCI Compliant Host Controller and this is the only entry under Universal Serial Bus Controller. When I check the properties under general device status is "This Device cannot find enough free resources that it can use. (Code 12). If you want to use this device, you will need to disable one of the other devices on this system".

 

I have tried downloading Intel USB 3 driver but is says that my system does not meet the minimum requirements. I have checked online but cant seem to find a solution.

I have also uninstalled the USB xHCI driver still the same. I have tried updating the driver online but it says the best driver is already installed.

Two devices have been assigned the same input/output (I/O) ports, the same interrupt, or the same Direct Memory Access channel. The assignment was made by either the basic input/output system (BIOS), the operating system, or a combination of the two.

 

try uninstalling all the usb host controllers and rebooting the pc???

 

EDIT:just seen your update, did you only unistall the one usb host controller? if not it's worth doing them all... or reinstall the latest chipset drivers??

Will have to check this when i get to my other school as we have just brought 3 of these and built them with 8.1...we are also looking at having 32 of them at another site. Thanks for the heads up.

Installed 100s of these and had no problems.

 

Are you sure you are downloading correct drivers from Intel site?

Different model of laptop but I had a similar issue recently and I uninstalled the graphics drivers. After a reboot it re-detected it and sorted out the USB's too!

Snagrat - Which diver I am suppose to look for? I have tried downloading the Intel USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller Driver but when I launch setup it say the system does not meet the minimum requirement for some reason.

AFAIK you should deffo have more than one entry under that....i could be wrong though

Filthy Intel drivers! have had the same kind of issue, Windows 8.1 comes with new integrated drivers which supplant the vendor ones. I don't know why intel can't make drivers that match hardware IDs properly, they really needed to fire the stoned guy in their NIC driver dev team rather than move him to chipset drivers.

I have not tried it though as my issue with Intel's USB3 is slightly different and involves Multipoint Server 2012.

Telsa - below is a picture of device manager. It is strange that the laptop only has one entry USB Controller. Could the issue be because of this?

I have tried many things but nothing seems to work. I have tried the following:

 

* Uninstall the driver,

* Uninstall and disabled other Drivers,

* Installed latest Chipset Driver,

* I tried installing Intel USB 3 Drivers but for some reason my system does not meet minimum requirements (a bit stupid)

 

Just to mention this laptop came with Windows 7 Pro and i upgraded it to Windows 8.1.

Well you can try a desk update.

 

Go to downloads, type in model number and go from there.

I have done both already, desk update and typed in the model number and selected OS 8.1 on the website. It did download updated driver but still did not resolve the issue.
