That turkey ddos was pretty mental, I had to pause it to let it catch up, turns out that doesn't help as much as you would think since it then tries to visually show all of the hacks since you paused it at the same time when your resume.

Well all of the traffic was coming from that university, so I guess they're part of a botnet.

Somebody pointed them at somewhere else and pulled the trigger.. Bang.

Haha, at college we got all our phones our and all the computers in 2 classrooms and constantly refreshed the justin bieber page hoping that would take it down, one of the tutors was literally in love with the fella. Though as you may have guessed it didn't work :)

That won't do anything as you aren't connecting to their monitoring system. The data is collected by InfoSec professionals putting up unprotected systems on the Internet called honeypots. They are made to look attractive to a potential criminal but contain a complicated array of monitoring and reporting software to track what is sending traffic the honeypot and it's location. Virtually none of the traffic is legitimate because no-one has a legitimate need to visit it beyond the occasional accidental request on Port 80 (so you can guarantee anyone attempting to connect on Port 23 for example is attempting to breach the honeypot via Telnet).
