How long do you keep your End Of Year tapes for?

Sorry if this is in the wrong area or it is posted elsewhere - had no luck searching..

 

As the title says... I just wondered how long you are supposed to keep your EOY data tapes for? 1, 2, 5 years ???

 

Is there a legal/Education requirement?

Now we're out of BSF (when the oldest backup at any one time was 3 weeks!) - we keep our EOYs for 5 years.

I'd argue depends what is on that tape, if it has records related to children its DOB of the child plus 25 years last time I looked, if they are looked after / SEN it changes things so worth reading into it and seeing what is on the tape.

Hi John, it is mainly teacher and pupil home directories. SIMS data I agree may be a different matter.
