That's a much better idea than having a dedicated box like the Apple TV or Amazon's Fire TV. The entire 2015 HD and 4K smart TV ranges from Sony, Sharp, TP vision and Philips will also run on Android TV. Chromecast to get live screen mirroring, casting from other networks and Google+ Photo galleries soon « Android Police The low-cost streaming device will get newer and more advanced capabilities soon, including the ability to stream the screen contents of your phone or tablet directly to the television. The demonstration during the keynote was impressive: after casting the phone screen to the television, the video was smooth and effective, though you could see a tiny bit of lag. In portrait mode it was shown with large black areas to either side, but a quick rotation to full-screen landscape mode was seamless. Chandra showed off the mobile version of Google Earth (with some taxing 3D animation) as well as the phone's camera being mirrored on the screen. Hopefully this means that the wireless latency will be low enough to allow for Android games to be played while mirroring. Chromecast will soon allow you to cast from phones and tablets that aren't on the same WiFi network as the Chromecast hardware itself. Chandra demonstrated a phone on a standard LTE network casting to a friend's television based solely on proximity, presumably determined by either 3G or Wifi location. We're guessing anyone can download them, so long as you're comfortable flashing an image to your device. Theblacksheep Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 All TVs running AndroidTV is interesting, many of the current and last year TVs run android behind the scenes. I like the new 'personal unlock' feature of android, which doesn't impose full unlock security when near trusted devices (bluetooth, ssid, your voice). I like the enforced password, but its a PITA in some areas.

You can check the developer blog for a bit more detail. Google Play Services 5.0 should make its way to all devices over the next few days.

Arthur Posted June 27, 2014 Posted June 27, 2014 Chromecast will use ultrasonic sounds to pair your TV with your friend’s phones « Giga Om Google’s Chromecast team has found an interesting way to pair Chromecast streaming sticks with mobile devices that are not on the same Wi-Fi network. Pairing is done through inaudible, ultrasonic sounds, which should make sure that your neighbor won’t suddenly rickroll your TV screen. Google first announced support for off-network casting at its Google I/O 2014 developer conference in San Francisco Wednesday, and Chromecast Engineering Manager John Affaki said during a presentation at the conference Thursday that the goal was to make the social use of Chromecast in the living room easier. The new pairing feature will enable users to cast their content even if their phone is connected to a mobile network. To enable this, Chromecast owners have to first allow support for nearby devices. After that, any user in the vicinity of a Chromecast can request from within any cast-enabled app. The Chromecast streaming stick then plays a unique ultrasonic sound through the TV’s loudspeakers. That sound won't be audible by human ears, but a mobile device in the same room will be able to pick it up and pair with the TV. Alternatively there will also be a four-digit pin displayed on the TV screen, making it possible to manually pair both devices.

You can however download the APK from the links provided by Android Police in the article above and sideload the app. Has your new watch been delivered?

The android wear app is now on the play store and when you open it up after downloading it gets you to update the play services. So im all up to date just need to get my watch delivered!
