Set microphone volume and Mic boost via registry

Hi all

 

I was wondering where in the registry I would set the microphone volume and the microphone boost. We are wanting to use a small lexia like program around school but the mics are too quiet at the moment. The only way to get the mics on the headphones to an acceptable level is to increase the microphone boost. I spent about 3 hours yesterday afternoon trying to work out where in the registry this was but at the end had no luck.

 

Whilst looking around on the net for a solution, I came across a piece of software called nircmd. I managed to get a little command to set the microphone volume however I couldn't work out what the command for the microphone boost was.

 

Has anyone got any info or ways on how to do this.

nircmd is the only way we've found to set the volume which is a pain in the butt.

Ok thanks. Do you know what the command for the microphone boost is. Ive managed to get the microphone volume sorted, just struggling on the boost command now.

Many years later... I am struggling with the same issue.

 

Did you ever figure out a command to get Nircmd to adjust the microphone boost?

(I'm trying to create a shortcut for students to click on to adjust mics to a preset level.)

How to allow pupils to change the volume levels of a microphone without allowing access to the whole of control panel. I can't see a "Sound" Setting where I'm expecting to see one in Group Policy / User / Policies / Administrative Templates / Control Panel / ?????

Don't know about microphone boost but we allow access through Group Policy / User / Policies / Administrative Templates / Control Panel / Settings Page Visibility and a setting of showonly:sound;privacy-webcam;privacy-microphone;printers

 

I think the full options are showonly:display;powersleep;printers;mousetouchpad;devices-touchpad;network-ethernet;personalization-background;colors;sound;privacy-webcam;privacy-microphone;activation;windowsupdate;windowsupdate-action;windowsupdate

Smashing, that has worked a treat. Thanks. I've also found a dell audio control from reinstalling the driver which would do the job too.
