Windows 8.1 to Windows 8.1 Pro licence

Have 5 Lenovo touch screen laptops which were bought by a school (I didn't advise on this purchase) that have Windows 8.1 standard installed. I asked out admin dept to get a quote to upgrade to 8.1 Pro and was told today it can't be done and that the school would have to buy a full licence with educational discount for £113.

 

I can't see this is correct and wondered if anyone else has come across this and if anyone has any advise as to where the school could go out and buy an upgrade license at a more respectable price.

 

Also, as a slide twist on this I'd like to start with a fresh install of Pro using the upgrade licence - so run the disk, choose to carry over any data and let it go for it... I'm guessing there would be no issues with using the upgrade key to do this (although ultimately I'd have a play anyway and image back if all goes horribly wrong!)

Try searching for the "Windows 8.1 Pro Plus Pack". I found it on the US Amazon site for about $93. It looks like Microsoft sells it from their site as well.

You can also upgrade to the Pro edition from within Windows for £99.99 (which I assume is £83.33 + VAT?).
