mdench Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 Morning We are based in West Sussex in the South and we are looking for anyone schools that have put in place a fully BYOD scheme rather than a pay into a scheme for a device. If you are one of those schools and your in the area would you be up for myself and our director of E-Learning possibly coming to visit to see how you have set yourselves up for BYOD? Cheers!
zag Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 (edited) We have BYOD for our Year 12s and 13s, its a bit further away west of london Edited June 17, 2014 by zag
Millgate Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 Hi mate, Check this out http://www.edugeek.net/forums/general-chat/136922-byod-solutions-edugate.html I'm sure we'll be able to put you in touch with some schools Luke
jamesfed Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 I wouldn't say so much that we have a 'BYOD scheme' (in that we very much so have school owned PCs) but you would be welcome to visit us/have a chat on the phone (we're in Oxford). Can go over what we have for WiFi access, our guides for email/remote file access on any device (good old WebDAV!) and our Moodle VLE install.
timtom Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 Sussex 6th form here - we don't have a BYOD policy but actively encourage own devices with strong wireless, making sure all our resources are webpages compatible with multiple devices and so on. Happy to talk if you want to PM
eyetea Posted June 26, 2014 Posted June 26, 2014 We're having the wifi over in our 6th form block upgraded in July to enable us to roll out a BYOD scheme for them (We have also purchased a few devices for students unable to bring in devices.) It's all still very new here, but I'd be happy to put you in contact with the boss if you have any questions! (Guildford, Surrey)
mdench Posted June 26, 2014 Author Posted June 26, 2014 @eyetea if you could that would be great if you could PM me some details or something that would be awesome!
Jona Posted June 26, 2014 Posted June 26, 2014 Hi, We're a boarding school just over the border in Surrey. We do full BYOD in all our senior school (yr 9 - yr13) boarding houses. There is wifi available in most classrooms and it is currently up to pupil's if they choose to bring their devices to lessons. We use Xirrus arrays, with 802.1x authentication to a central radius server and use a product called Network Sentury made by Bradford to enforce anti-virus compliance, etc. If you want more info, do get in touch.... Thanks Jona
mdking Posted June 26, 2014 Posted June 26, 2014 Independent boarding school in Surrey. BYOD policy in place for 6th form. Wireless throughout the site. Feel free to PM me if needed
timtom Posted June 26, 2014 Posted June 26, 2014 Just to add we're Xirrus as well, implementing eduroam at the moment
