Which Laptop

Again, I'm sure I asked this before but has anyone heard of a good deal for a robust laptop or two?

We currently use Dells but they seem very expensive at the moment

 

I have spent ages looking but it seems very sensible to ask 4000 of my friends!

The thinkpad R61 is very cheap for what you actually get - it's betwen

£600-£700 . Very similar to the more expensive T61 without 802.11n, WWAN and a couple more advanced features i'm sure you probably won't need. Don't know of any deals going at the moment - but I know Lenovo have just come out with a T61 spec that doubles the memory and faster processor for just £4 more than the current 1GB 2ghz model. Trouble is 4 week lead time. Something similar might be available for the R61.

 

How much is too expensive as regards your Dell's ? I'm guessing the R61 is out of budget.

That's much better than my suggestion. The T42 is great value, but the centrino M - particularly the 1.5ghz is a bit of a dog as far as mobile processors go. The newer centrino duos are a huge improvement.

Have a look at the Viglen Dossier ZR+ We have them here and they are very good.

Give EuroPC a call, they carry reconditioned Dells, HPs, IBMs and more. Prices and service are good.

Unfortunately that is WAY out of our league!

I will look into the rest of the suggestions!

 

We are looking at about £400 I am afraid (deficit budget and all that)
