We've used 3COM power supplies in place of the hitachi ones. We've had about 10 hitatchi ones fail in the last 12 months, and purely by chance (while trying to get a board working for a desparate member of staff) found the 3com ones work the boards OK.

Cheap ones available here (Top item in the list) http://www.3complete.com/acatalog/3complete_3Com_Power_Supplies_69.html

Now I know the voltage and ampage don't match, but we've been using these a while now and all the boards and power supplies are still working ok absolutely no problems. I even checked it with an amp meter, and the board uses no where near the 1.7A of the origenal PSU.

The only small issue has been the leads arn't as long, but we can work around that one.

Just need to find somewhere to get cheap pens for them now . . . . .

We had a few go missing,

I got one of CPC, just typed 9v 1.7 in search, granted this needed different adaptor on end (we have lots of them anyhow) but the voltage and amp the same and the lead is very long. I think same sort of price as 3com ones.

I went with CPC as we have an AC allready, always nice to have a few options though.
