Quantum DLT-V4 not in device manager?

Anyone have a standalone Quantum drive, and should it be listed in the device manager?

 

We have a Quantum DLT-V4 installed on our server - at least it was for over a year. We had an unexpected server shutdown and UPS power down a good few weeks ago. The Quantum is connected both to the server and to the UPS. Anyway, after everything was powered back up, Backup Exec wasn't running and complained about not finding a physical volume library.

 

I thought the problem must be with Backup Exec being corrupted by the shutdown, and have tried some things to repair this - so far with no success. Then I thought to look at Device Manager on the server, and I can't find anything like the tape drive listed (as it seems to say it should be in the Quantum documentation).

 

My thought is perhaps the tape drive failed and that was what triggered the shutdown/UPS power down.

For anyone else out there who comes across this and needs help, the answer to my question is yes it should appear in the device manager and now it does.

 

The unexpected server shutdown must have done something strange. However, I finally googled "not in device manager" and found some suggestions from people who had run a manual scan for hardware changes. Our hardware hadn't changed, but the server had somehow lost the tape drive. I opened device manager and, in the Action menu, chose Scan for Hardware Changes. After a few minutes of searching, the tape drive was found and added.

 

And I have reconnected Backup Exec by simply stopping the service using BEUtility and then starting the service again. Backup restored, as well as sleep at night!!
