You can easily convert wordperfect age stuff into .doc with office 2003 and I'm sure later versions. It shouldn't be that bad really for raw/lightly formatted text.

Also, is it MS-DOS or MS-Disk Operating System? I know that's what the letters stand for and mean, but the products name is MS-DOS, no? So what the Beeb ment to write was "DOS computers were popular in the 1980s and early 1990s". Or at the very least capatalise the O and S in operating system to denote name rather than function?

Nah, Disk Operating Systems were specifically about managing secondary storage. You could have an OS without a DOS when DOS was the popular way of doing things. OS's are far too advanced compared to then to refer to them as disk operating systems still now, as that handling of storage is merely a small part of a modern OS. That'd be my view anyway.

Plus boot time, there's nothing quite as fun as listening to the click of 4MB of RAM being tested before watching config.sys and autoexec.bat running through their commands along with the "fun" of jiggling things around into Himem to get as much of that precious 640KB free as possible
