Stuck on "welcome" when logging in.

Generally happens when the machine hasn't been shut down properly. Any ideas? HDD light goes crazy, almost as if it's running a chkdisk when logging in for the first time after not shutting down properly.

Edit Group Policy and you'll be able to see what's causing the problem.

 

Computer Configuration> Administrative Templates> System.

In the right pane, double-click Verbose vs normal status messages.

Click Enabled, and then click OK.

Close Group Policy Object Editor, and then click OK.
