kaphc Posted April 28, 2014 Posted April 28, 2014 We've just bought some Airserver licenses as a way of mirroring iPad content onto whiteboards via laptops. All seems to be working well - there was a bit of a lag on the graphics to start with but it caught up. The only glitch we've really found so far is that some apps don't seem to support AirPlay, e.g. Sock Puppets for one. Are there some apps which will AirPlay and some which won't?
Manuelpl Posted April 28, 2014 Posted April 28, 2014 From what I've seen it's mostly apps that stream licensed video content.
Marci Posted April 28, 2014 Posted April 28, 2014 Some do, some don't, some send separate specialised content to the 2nd display rather than mirroring the iPad screen, some send just the sound with no video (in the case of licensed video content for instance such as SkyGo)... As with all apps, before use in the classroom, test! Tis the only way to know whether the app your staff want to use is useable in the way they want to use it. 1
kaphc Posted April 28, 2014 Author Posted April 28, 2014 I definitely agree with the testing - we have got one classroom set up with AirServer at the moment, and the first app we chose to test was Sock Puppets which took us a bit by surprise! This gives us time to work out a bit more what we can Airplay and what we can't so that we can manage the teacher's expectations.
