stm-tech Posted April 28, 2014 Posted April 28, 2014 Hi I have updated a driver to a networked printer, sent it out to client and I have confirmed that is has installed on the client machines. Problem: Open Publisher Document that has been set up for the SAME printer, but different driver. The print button is greyed out. I can see that the printer is ready. Start a NEW document, and it prints just fine. Any ideas? Paul
stm-tech Posted April 28, 2014 Author Posted April 28, 2014 No - its a Richoh Photocopier. I upgraded the PCL 6 driver from version 4. to 4.3 as they were having issues with colour selection.
fairm010 Posted April 28, 2014 Posted April 28, 2014 I had this not long ago but only with our HP laserjets. Turned out the driver was 4 years old and was fixed with a new one.
stm-tech Posted April 28, 2014 Author Posted April 28, 2014 I am sure it is something to do with the document, I will have a look at the documents to remove the printer settings and see how it goes.
gatelion Posted April 28, 2014 Posted April 28, 2014 Did you try the compatibility mode, it blocks some features
stm-tech Posted April 28, 2014 Author Posted April 28, 2014 The driver is sent down via windows print services, no actual install on the clients. The issue only seems to be with old documents. if the user starts a new document with the same printer/driver, it all works fine.
Michael Posted April 28, 2014 Posted April 28, 2014 From memory I think there was a bug in Publisher 2003 that sounds very similar to what you're describing. Not sure if a Service Pack ever addressed the issue. The only thing I can think of is whether it's a page/paper size issue with existing documents.
