TheOrangeMonkey Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 I work in ICT Support at a large school. We are currently migrating our email system over to Outlook 365 and would like to continue to allow users to use Outlook 2010 to check their emails. However we have encountered issues when trying to connect a 365 account to Outlook 2010. The setting I have entered can be found below: This results in the following error: I have downloaded the program for setting up Outlook 2010 for use with Outlook 365, as suggested by Microsoft. Any help on solving this issue would be much appreciated.
zag Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 We have to make the inital connection using a transparent proxy, after it finds the account we turn the proxy back on. I'm sure there is a better way to do it but never worked out why the proxy blocks it.
the_dude Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 have you done every imaginable windows update for Office 2010? You will get that message if your system is not fully updated. You don't really need anything else, just every update...and then restart...and then check updates again...and then restart...and check updates again...you get the idea.

EduTech Posted April 25, 2014 Posted April 25, 2014 The server is wrong which is why it can't connect. The suggested answer from Anna Shi here will give you a step by step on how to manually configure it: Manually configure Outlook 2010 to use Office 365 (new blue edition) | Email and calendar | Microsoft Office 365 Community It's much easier if you can configure it using Autodiscover... using outlook.office365.com should resolve to the correct server. make sure that you also have the SIA installed, check your connectivity using Exchange Connectivity Analyzer and If you could elaborate on your identity scenario that would be helpful. NOTE: in terms of uploading images to this thread, i would recommend for you to at least HASH out your E-Mail Address if this is a genuine address your showing. NOTE 2: you do have Office 365 support available to you, so look at opening a support case also if you need assistance. Hope that helps. James.
Cache Posted April 25, 2014 Posted April 25, 2014 Strange, it never used to do that which got me really annoyed with it! Nice to know that it does now though.
