Exchange 2013 not receiving emails

Hi All,

I have just been able to install exchange 2013 onto a new server along side another server running Exchange 2010. I am in the middle of migrating to 2013. I am checking the mail flow on the new Exchange 2013. I am able to send mail to both internal and external Mailboxes but i cannot receive anything at all. I have checked the accepted domains and i am sure the receive connectors are correct. Am i missing something? Any one else had this issue?

Have you checked your MX record and are DNS settings correct on the external provider?

Have you tested the setup using the Microsoft Exchange Connectivity Analyser

Hi, I have tested it using the smtp inbound option and it competes with no errors but no email in my inbox :/

 

As we are a school county council point the mail to a specific ip address I believe so I just swapped the ip address from the old exchange server to the new one. This still doesn't seem to work. Would there be anything else ?

Here's a small list of issues I ran into recently when setting up our new exchange server - maybe one of them will help...

 

- MX record must point to a valid FQDN for your mail server (eg. myexchangeserver.myschool.mycounty.sch.uk)

- A valid A record must exist in DNS to resolve the FQDN of your server to a public IP

- Both MX and A record must be on a externally accessable DNS server

- Your Nominet record for your domain must point to the DNS server(s) hosting the A and MX records

- You must have a valid reverse lookup entry in DNS for the mail server

- In Mail Flow, Recieve Connectors. Under scoping for the default frontend. It must respond to all IP's on port 25 and respond with the external FQDN (as above) for the server in it's HELO/EHLO response.

- Under security it needs to respond to anonymous users.

 

That should be it. The only other thing is it can take DNS changes a couple of days to properly propergate so mail flow might be effected until this has completed.

Hi all. Thanks for the help ! Managed to fix this by leaving it on the ip address of old exchange server. As this is the address county had to send mail too . And then I had to restart the transport services . Mail then started to come through.

Hi all, I seem to have a problem at the moment where exchange is working fine for around 24 hours then it just stops sending or receiving mail ! I have to restart the transport service to get it running again and all is fine. Has anyone else had this issue ?
