E Learning Credits - Help Please

I have been working in schools for just over a year now but am still uncertain as to loads of things. The main one being...

 

...e-Learning Credits.

 

I know that the head keeps a track of what each department spends and that they can be used to buy educational software but how much money do you get each year and will they be around next year?

yes and how they work depends on school to school

 

some assign set amount to each department some say if want to spend it come and see me etc etc

 

some have some kind of riutal dance to be able to use it...

 

head dosnt have to look atfer it can be anyone..

 

the money can be used on any software that has been elc acredited and also invoice must say elc on it somewhere.

 

yes they will be arund next year in fact the amount has increased the amount school gets is based on lump sum + so much per pupil etc..

It depends on the number of students you have in the school, and the LEA you are in.

 

It varies from £7000 to £13000.

 

It will be around next year ... and supposedly for the subsequent 2 years.

 

But that could change.

 

One thing you may need to get the head to check is that people are not buying from the same company but doing it in seperate orders. (eg you don't have 5 subjects buying from boardworks ... IIRC if you buy five you get everything free ... and they are terrible for telling you that your school already has 4 of them when you order the fifth and sixth ...)

 

Ideally it should be whoever looks after ICT across the curriculum so they know haw much ICT is being used and whether it is driven by software and resources or by good teaching (or both)

Also in our LEA the money allocated has a 16 month lifespan. i.e you get the money in April and you have until August the following year to spend it.

 

The amount the school gets is dependant on numbers on pupil roll.

all elcs have to be spent by last day of aug

 

any money not spent or spent on non elc products can be clawed back
