tech_guy Posted November 9, 2007 Author Posted November 9, 2007 I must admit I waited so long for Doom3 only to find that really it was a bit of a pile of poo.
mattx Posted November 9, 2007 Posted November 9, 2007 I'm still waiting for Duke Nukem Forever - been waiting for almost 8 years now....
ashes87 Posted November 12, 2007 Posted November 12, 2007 ALEX DA KIDD!!!! (came pre installed on the console, you didn't even need a cartridge... quality) GOLDEN AXE!!! SHINOBI!!! STREETS OF RAGE!!! (all in one on a single cartridge, now thats value) WOLFENSTEIN 3D changed gaming... amazing game... then Goldeneye came out (didn't think you could get any better)... now Halo... where next?!?!?
Bromcom_John Posted November 12, 2007 Posted November 12, 2007 Has anyone found any games in the last 10 years even remotely as tough as the games that where coming out 20+ years ago? I think that as graphics improve the challenge seems to drop... Case in point Manic Miner - 20 levels, each level one screen, enemies move backwards/forwards/up.down on set paths. Chances that you are someone (or at least know someone) who could complete the game - very Low Halo (1,2 or 3)- Gorgeous graphics, ground breaking enemy AI, cutting edge storytelling techniques. Chances that you (or someone you know) completed the game 48 hours after it hit the store shelves. Almost 100% certainty.
Bromcom_John Posted November 12, 2007 Posted November 12, 2007 Also, there was a game I can't quite remember that I used to run on my old 386. It was a dungeons and dragons kinda game where you moved forward, back, left or right and encountered monsters along the way. I can't be sure but I think it might have been Might and magic. Well it was either one of the Might and Magic series or... and this is the big daddy of the dungeon crawl genre..it was Dungeon Master.. If it had a splash screen as it loaded that had a wooshing FTL with speed lines then it was that one. Great game, get those Ninja levels by climbing ropes over and over and over and over, Fighter levels by hitting a wall with your axe etc... of course that wasn't how you where "supposed" to improve.
Guest aliv25 Posted November 12, 2007 Posted November 12, 2007 ALEX DA KIDD!!!! (came pre installed on the console, you didn't even need a cartridge... quality) Alex the Kidd was a big game, if i couldnt find a cartridge to play on the sega master system, id just switch it on and the sound of the theme tune...well you know the rest!
tech_guy Posted November 12, 2007 Author Posted November 12, 2007 Anyone remember Road Rash on the Megadrive? Especially the music. I spent too long playing that damn game.
tech_guy Posted November 12, 2007 Author Posted November 12, 2007 Then, on the Playstation playing Tekken until your fingers bled? Too be honest I don't think games now are as good.
