Does the ActivPanel touch need a driver??

As above I have one of these in school, can get it using the touch in windows. However the pen does not work when using ActivInspire. So I was wondering if there was a driver needed, if where can I download it?

hi denon101,

The ActivPanel Touch uses standard Windows HID drivers at present, so it does require drivers. However the fact that touch is working fully in Windows and not in ActivInspire is telling me that these drivers are working perfectly.

 

I suspect (though cannot confirm) that you are running an older version of ActivInspire. Please could you ensure you are running the latest ActivInspire version (v1.8) (available to download from Free Teaching Resources, Lesson Plans & Worksheets If you are already running this version, please check the Inspire settings (file>settings>Dual Mode ActivBoards) and ensure that you have Touch set and you have not chosen to "ignore Touch".

Thanks that has sorted it!!! I was almost there myself.... I had already updated to 1.8 just needed it set to stylus or pen. Once that was set, everything was great.

Does anyone know where this setting is saved to?

 

We are seeing different users get different settings here, on the same machine.

 

Why is "pen and touch" not the default mode ! Instead of select tool!?

Hi Vortex,

The settings for this are a stored within the USERS profile location, the settings can be changed according to the type of activity or location that the user is using ActivInspire.

By default the user profiles are stored here:

C:\Users\*USERNAME*\Documents\Activ Software\ActivInspire\My Resources\My Profiles

In here are (again by default) 5 .profile files, which are the default profiles for ActivInspire that can be used as and when a teacher needs them to be used, and each one can be edited to suit the teachers needs, by the teacher themselves.

 

Depending on the teachers, it could be that they have changed the setting to pen and touch, though they can change it to pen and touch and providing they save the changes this will be the default for that profile.
