bshingler Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 Hi Guys, im moving our sims server to a new server 2012r2 and sql2012 does anyone know the correct order to manually install the setups as the simsinst does not function. just want to make sure i have all correctly installed. Thanks
FN-GM Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 I don't think its supported, I only think its supported on 2012. I don't have the updated road map sheet so I can't check.
bshingler Posted April 3, 2014 Author Posted April 3, 2014 i thought it was supported from the spring release as the client is now supported on windows 8 and 2012r2
FN-GM Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 i thought it was supported from the spring release as the client is now supported on windows 8 and 2012r2 Wasn't that 2012 and Windows 8 not 2012 R2 and 8.1?
creese Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 I don't think its supported, I only think its supported on 2012. I don't have the updated road map sheet so I can't check. R2 is supported from the latest, Spring Update
bshingler Posted April 3, 2014 Author Posted April 3, 2014 nope capita will not send the install CD only say its in solus - done the usual method - move s: to new server and run setups etc
FN-GM Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 R2 is supported from the latest, Spring Update Thought so, so based on this @bshingler shouldn't use this configuration.
creese Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 nope capita will not send the install CD only say its in solus - done the usual method - move s: to new server and run setups etc That's helpful of them. I'm not entirely sure what order to install. I don't even think it matters. I have been installing SIMS for many years and just ryun through all the exe's one by one.
bshingler Posted April 3, 2014 Author Posted April 3, 2014 cheers @creese i need to move my database and should all work fingers crossed.. @FN-GM im on the latest Spring release
FN-GM Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 cheers @creese i need to move my database and should all work fingers crossed.. @FN-GM im on the latest Spring release Oh right, I didn't think it had been released!
bshingler Posted April 3, 2014 Author Posted April 3, 2014 i wouldnt be moving over so quick normally however we still on 2008 32bit and 4gbram sucks big time..
creese Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 Oh right, I didn't think it had been released! Last Friday.
creese Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 i wouldnt be moving over so quick normally however we still on 2008 32bit and 4gbram sucks big time.. Mine is a bit of a Gung Ho attitude but it has always worked. As long as you leave the old database intact, there won't be a problem.
bshingler Posted April 3, 2014 Author Posted April 3, 2014 yeah im leaving the old server alone and is backedup as vhd so i can restore if all goes south.. this is a test box im going to load all the data on get people to test and them move all over as we have so many things syncing with MIS its a royal pain
ChrisH Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 Our SIMS server is 2012 R2 and there has been no issues.
