Installing SIMS server 2012r2

Hi Guys,

 

im moving our sims server to a new server 2012r2 and sql2012 does anyone know the correct order to manually install the setups as the simsinst does not function. just want to make sure i have all correctly installed.

I don't think its supported, I only think its supported on 2012. I don't have the updated road map sheet so I can't check.

Have you got the latest Installation CD?

Wasn't that 2012 and Windows 8 not 2012 R2 and 8.1?

R2 is supported from the latest, Spring Update

nope capita will not send the install CD only say its in solus - done the usual method - move s: to new server and run setups etc

Thought so, so based on this @bshingler shouldn't use this configuration.

I'm not entirely sure what order to install. I don't even think it matters. I have been installing SIMS for many years and just ryun through all the exe's one by one.

i wouldnt be moving over so quick normally however we still on 2008 32bit and 4gbram sucks big time..

Mine is a bit of a Gung Ho attitude but it has always worked. As long as you leave the old database intact, there won't be a problem.

yeah im leaving the old server alone and is backedup as vhd so i can restore if all goes south.. this is a test box im going to load all the data on get people to test and them move all over as we have so many things syncing with MIS its a royal pain

Our SIMS server is 2012 R2 and there has been no issues.
