How do you all tell if all the computers in a lab are on or off?

We used to use Altiris and we could easily select a lab of computers and tell if they were on/off and if someone was logged in or not.

But now we use SCCM 2012 and the only way to tell if a computer is on is to ping it.

What if I've got 1000+ computers to check?

Well (and its not just to check if machines are on) we LanSchool. Machines are grouped into different channels so you can easily see what's on and off and who is logged in by selecting the right channel.

If you intergrate Right Click Tools into SCCM you can ping collections of computers.

so create a collection for each lab, or what ever your needs are, right click on the collection, and ping collection
