mrjonesybop Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 Hi all, I've been on here a good few years - used the site for numerous helps and tips - but now I'm looking for something rather important. I am currently based in Plymouth, but I need to find a job working in IT in Scotland. Particularly in or around the Dundee/Perth area. It's the usual situation, meet the love of your life and they live 500 miles away. Having spoken to a Network Manager from the local area down here this morning, I know that I'm not alone in that! I am a confident, capable and dependable member of the IT profession who is keen to take on anything that is going within the field. I am looking to move and start the new job ASAP - after my 4 weeks notice period at the school I currently work in. I find myself in the unfortunate position that I have lots of experience, but no paperwork to back it up, aside from the FITS (akin to ITIL) certification - which has hit me pretty hard in the job application process. I am really keen to meet possible employers so I can show what I can do. I run, lead and manage the Duke of Edinburgh's Award Gold expedition scheme in the school, so have plenty of leadership and experience of working in adverse conditions, which will hopefully work in my favour. I know that it's a long shot, but I am happy to pursue and leads that come in, as I'm really keen to get myself up there, where I need to be. I have a CV ready to send off if anyone has any ideas? Thanks all, a crate of your favourite beverage and lifelong friendship to anyone that can help me out. Cheers, Rob
network41 Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 Had a quick look around , don't know if St Andrews would be to far to commute, worth a look though https://www.vacancies.st-andrews.ac.uk/login.aspx?enc=vDVLPY6BrOnmx9szwB5icMU/Bp97ap1BlI/jb0LhRYVeoh/cn5bYgvW+9EbbSw7a 1

I'll give them a call and see. Cheers! Rob

ZeroHour Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 I am in Edinburgh so I will keep my ear to the ground. The evening express is the common jobs advertiser so I would take a look at: jobsmyway - search for jobs in Scotland across all industry sectors 1
has Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 A couple of weeks ago there was a it technician job with Perth council education services on myjobscotland.gov.uk. They regularly look for technicians. Good place to work and your not fixed to a single location. Worked for them a few years back.

witch Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 Thank you! :-D Are you sure your CV is up to it? If you don't have any paper qualifications then you need to make sure the techy part is really comprehensive. If you apply to a school you will have to fill in a form but a good CV is invaluable - the info can be just copied off onto the form. If you would like me to look over it (ex computer head-hunter, IT tech and goodnes knows what else) pm for my email 1
